ORGANIZING UniFI@HOME CABLES

We are now living in what people called as information age. In our home, to stay connected with the outside world, we subscribe to UniFi that provides us

  • video or internet protocol TV
  • high speed internet &
  • phone
The equipments can be installed in a floor standing equipment rack at an additional cost. We just put them on a wooden TV rack. Problems?

  • It was a struggle to watch the TV in peace as Adik would be so attracted to the exposed dangling wires and the brightly lit extensions.
  • The plugs have no label. Difficult to instruct the kids to switch off the TV as they would get confuse with the broadband plugs.
Steps
  1. Switch off the supply
  2. Disconnect all the connections & remove them from the rack
  3. Wipe the areas
  4. Re-position the equipment & reconnect the wires
  5. Tie the lengthy wires with cable tie
  6. Label the plugs
  7. Put a file to cover the equipment - I put a flower sticker to hide the wordings on the file

Cost
Cable tie RM? (Mr DIY)

What next?
Put something under the Set-Top-Box to maximize the vertical space usage.

Before & after
I'm happy to share that so far Adik has never attempted to explore behind the file cover. Mission completion!
